Diesel Engine Technician
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Technician to join our team. This position focuses on the repair and maintenance of semi-trucks, power line equipment, and rental equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience working with heavy-duty diesel engines and drivetrains.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty trucks, including Kenworth, Peterbilt, and Western Star models
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel engines such as Cummins ISX15 & 12L, PACCAR MX-13, and Detroit Diesel DD15
- Conduct routine inspections and identify mechanical and operational issues
- Inspect trucks and equipment for deficiencies and recommend necessary repairs
- Complete preventative maintenance and major component repairs (engine, drivetrain, etc.)
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards
- Accurately document maintenance, repairs, and inspection findings
- Utilize company systems to clock in/out, manage work orders, and track job progress
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet shop and field service demands
Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years of experience working on diesel engines and internal engine components
- Proven experience in a technician role within a fleet, dealership, or construction environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
- Experience working on Class 1–8 trucks and heavy equipment preferred
- Proficiency with diagnostic software tools including Cummins INSITE, CAT ET, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link (DDDL), and DAVIE (PACCAR)
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and stay self-motivated
- Basic computer skills for timekeeping and work order management
- Ability to read and write in English
